[ Terms menu ] Kleptomania: an impulse-control disorder, consisting in stealing objects which would be useless to the individual personally and have no great economic value. The action, which procures considerable pleasure for the kleptomaniac, is preceded by a feeling of growing tension or affective arousal. Korsakov’s syndrome: encephalopathy with association of an anterograde amnesia, which constitutes the specific characteristic of this syndrome (the subject forgets more and more as time passes), spatio-temporal disorientation, false recognition, and spontaneous or induced fabulation. Mainly caused by alcoholism, this syndrome may depend on cranial trauma, a vascular condition or a tumour. ![]()
